Get answers to common questions about Instant Dread.

Most Instant Dread installations take between two to five hours depending on hair length, density, and desired loc size. Consultation beforehand helps determine exact timing, and our stylists work efficiently while ensuring proper hydration and secure loc formation.

No — when performed by experienced stylists, Instant Dread is designed to minimize tension and breakage. We hydrate and reinforce weak strands during installation, but severely compromised hair may need preparatory treatments or trims for safest results.

Wash locs gently every one to two weeks with a residue-free cleanser, moisturize with light oils, and palm-roll or retwist loose roots as needed. Avoid heavy products, and book regular maintenance appointments for long-term health and neatness.

We assess chemically treated or damaged hair during consultation to determine suitability. Light chemical history can often be managed with intensive hydration and careful technique; severely damaged hair may require restorative care before Instant Dread installation.

Instant Dread results are immediate, but maintenance cycles vary. Many clients schedule touch-ups every four to eight weeks depending on growth and loc size; heavier styles may need less frequent upkeep. We'll recommend a plan based on your hair.

Extensions are optional for length or volume and can be integrated during Instant Dread installation. We use secure, lightweight methods and match textures for a natural look. Extensions may affect price and maintenance frequency; discuss preferences during consultation.
