Typical installation takes four to eight hours depending on braid size, length, and hair density. Our stylists work carefully to ensure consistent parting and comfortable tension. Bring reference photos and allow ample time for precise, long-lasting results.
Wash and deep-condition hair one to two days before your appointment, thoroughly detangling and avoiding heavy oils. Clean, moisturized and dry hair ensures secure braiding and a healthier installation experience.
Cleanse your scalp every one to two weeks using diluted shampoo or a gentle cleansing spray. Lightly moisturize braids and scalp weekly with a leave-in spray or light oil, and sleep with a satin scarf to reduce friction and frizz.
You can swim and exercise with box braids, but protect them from chlorine and saltwater by wearing a swim cap and rinsing hair after exposure. Reapply lightweight moisturizer and pat dry to prevent buildup and maintain braid integrity.
Properly installed box braids should not cause damage when tension is moderate and hair is healthy. Avoid overly tight parts, heavy extensions, and prolonged wear. Communicate sensitivity or previous breakage with your stylist for a customized, gentler installation.
Most clients wear box braids for six to eight weeks, depending on hair growth and maintenance. Leaving them longer may cause matting or breakage; schedule removal or refresh appointment when new growth is noticeable or braids feel loose.
